We reactivate one of our favorite series for the new year. Saki is one of our all-time heroes, and after all these years I still read him with pleasure. On a par with Wodehouse, and as influential as Wilde. Herewith "The Open Doors" (w/Michael Sheen), "The Schartz-Metterkune Method", and one of the best stories anyone ever wrote, "Sredni Vashtar". God bless H.H. Munro.
Short Stories of Saki — A very complete collection of the works of Saki in an easy-to-read format.
Dan Cruickshank presents
a documentary revealing the story of the Dalai Lama, his secret
Himalayan kingdom and the story of his exile, using eyewitness accounts
from Tibetans including the Dalai Lama himself and colour archive
footage of Tibet from the 1930s to 50s.
A very important and MUST
SEE video. Online video sources are often the only way many of us can
see these videos, and therefore see the shocking truth of the Tibetan
situation.
"The powerful story of a group of Himalayan mountaineers who witnessed
and filmed the shooting of Tibetan refugees as they attempted to flee
over the mountains into Nepal. In September 2006 Chinese border guards
opened fire on a group of Tibetans high on the Nangpa Pass. A 17
year-old nun, Kelsang Namtso, was killed and two others injured. The
horrifc scenes were captured on video by western climbers. This film
interweaves the stories of the Tibetan survivors who esacaped and the
climbers - much of whose dramatic footage has never been seen before."
